With Star Power on your side, what can go wrong? Not much, apparently. Or how else would Foxygen manage to put out a 24-track strong double-album, titled Foxygen And Star Power, that is hard to beat in terms of weirdness, and everyone loves it?
Maybe it’s because these two dreamy kids have already enchanted everyone with last year’s debut We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors Of Peace And Magic, a psychedelic merry-go-round that’s even better than its awesome title. And because they manage to recreate said magic live on stage (as seen at the Molotow in Hamburg, for instance). How this is going to work out with a record the band describe as “a svelte 82-minute run time of psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doomrock and paranoid bathroom rompers” and “a cinematic auditory adventure for speedy freaks, skull krunchers, abductees and misfits”? Answers will be given at Foxygen’s only German show this autumn, taking place on November 5th at Frannz, Berlin, with support by the ever-lovely Alvvays. We sure aren’t missing this awesome combination, so check back soon after for our review of the gig.
